Ciara & Simon Get Married

3rd May 2014
St. Vincent De Paul Church ,Marino
& The Westin Hotel, Westmorland st
Dublin, Ireland.

Smiles, giggles, tears through smiles and more smiles.

Upon meeting Simon & Ciara for a pre wedding consultation, the strong friendship which rooted their relationship was very clear, along with how much craic they were! Therefore it was near impossible to not get caught up in the fun and laughter that filled their wedding day.

I started shooting as Ciara was calmly getting ready in her house, I then followed as the independent ladies walked themselves to the church. Ciara and Simon agreed to do a reveal before the ceremony which had us all in tears, I really love shooting reveals! They then commenced with a beautiful ceremony which culminated with the two signing the register to the tune of Smashing Pumpkin's 'Tonight Tonight' and all the guests excitedly hopped on the coolest vintage bus ever to The Westin.

I however snook away with Ciara and Simon to have a cosy pint in Mulligans and a quick jaunt around Temple Bar to take advantage of the cool street art down its side streets. We then made it back in time before anyone even noticed we were gone and the party began!

Who proposed and how did they do it?

Ciara, "Simon proposed on 25th August 2012. He had just got a new job and

was bringing me away under the guise of thanking me for being so

supportive and generally amazing. He booked a night away in the

Wineport Hotel in Glasson (stunning place!) which I knew about but

when we got there they brought us to the Captains Suite, otherwise

known as the Honeymoon Suite! I started giving out and asking how
much it cost and saying it was total extravagant etc, still not realizing
that there was more to the story! Anyway after about 20 mins he
called me upstairs (yes there was an upstairs!) and got down on one
knee, so amazing! Then the hotel brought our champers and we
celebrated. We didn’t tell anyone until the next day and so it was our
night together to celebrate just to two of us and it was awesome!"

What was your favorite moment from the day?

Ciara: "Our favorite moment was during the ceremony. The whole time leading up to the wedding we tried to focus on the fact that we were getting married and not on all of the bells and whistles.
It’s easy to get caught up in all of that stuff which doesn't really mean anything in the end. So based on that, the best moment was when we exchanged our rings and we were formally married "

What are your words of wisdom for any engaged couples planning their wedding?

Ciara: "Our advice is about taking advice. Everyone will have their own opinion about why and how you should do everything, listen to them all and then go and make your decision yourself!"

What made you choose your reception location?

Ciara:   "We wanted a Dublin city center
wedding from the start. We also wanted somewhere where

we could pop back in at some point after we were married to have
a drink or a meal, without having to go traipsing down the country!
We went with The Westin hotel in the end based on the service we

received from the minute we emailed. They were so professional and

so nice that we were really happy to have our wedding there. It was a

good decision as we had the best day and have fantastic memories."

How was it having Blackbird Boulevard photograph your wedding?

Ciara: "Janet was absolutely AMAZING! She actually played such a big
part in making our day as perfect as it was! We booked Blackbird
Boulevard based on seeing her photograph a friends wedding a few
weeks before we got engaged. I remember thinking that if I ever got
married I’d love someone like that to do the photography. Low and
behold I caught the bouquet at that wedding and was engaged the
following week.
Simon and I met with Janet a few months before
the wedding to go through ideas and we were both blown away
with her enthusiasm and amazing ideas, which we used all of!

From the moment she arrived in my house on  the morning of
the wedding, she was both chilled and professional.
There was no fuss and she just got straight to it. Guests from our
wedding are still asking me where I found Janet.

We received our photographs when we got back from honeymoon and they are
soo soo gorgeous! I love them so much and I’m so happy that we booked Blackbird Boulevard!

What a day!
What a couple!
