It started out wet and blustery and ended with sunshine and a rainbow over the Wicklow Hills. I cant explain how beautiful this day was ..there was pigs and goats and walled gardens and Irish Dancing and an abundance of canape's and Baby's Breath in Hennessy bottles! Oh it was just all just so lovely!
A massive thanks goes to my second shooter on the day, Ms Aoife from Ruby Sky Photography.
Who proposed and how?
Marie:
It was a very wet October evening a year and four months after our first date. Earlier in the week Dermot rang me to ask if I was free on Friday night to meet up with friends of ours that we had been trying to meet for an age. I got out of work early on that Friday so came on down in my trackies, bags packed looking forward to a little night out.
Needless to say I was a little surprised when I ran in the door out of the rain to find a fabulous bouquet of red roses in the sitting room, I reached for the card whilst asking 'what did I do to deserve these?'.
When I read the card it simply read...”Will you marry me?". I totally filled with emotion I turned to find Dermot down on one knee. I simply said....”yes”.
An absolute wonderful moment we will both treasure forever.
What
was your favorite moment from the day?
Marie:
We
both agree the church was the absolute very best part of our day. We
were both so so excited to see each other. The wedding vows were
understandably very important to us and upon looking back we laugh at
how we both acted as if there was no one else in the church, nerves
certainly didn’t take over! It was all about us and our future
together.
What
made you choose your ceremony and reception venues?
Marie:
The
Church (Tullow Parish Church, Carlow) is the one I’ve attend all my life so there was no question
as to where we were going to exchange our vows.
As
for the venue, the Beautiful Ballybeg sold itself to us the minute we
entered the drive.
As we are both come from a farming background we
just loved the green fields filled with livestock, the homely vibe
from the house and the colour and scents from the gardens, it just
wowed us immediately.

What song was your first dance to?
'All of me' by John Legend was a hit at the time and we liked it and
choose it. We didn’t actually have what you could call “our
song”, but I guess we do now!
How
would you sum up the experience of having Blackbird Boulevard photograph
your wedding?
It
was a pleasure to work with Blackbird Boulevard. Janet and Aoife
really captured the spirit of the day in a very subtle way. From our
first meeting Janet took a great interest in our story, and in her endeavor to make some very special memories for us. We constantly
look at our photos and just continue to smile!!
