Irish Winter weddings have a special place in my heart because at a time of chilly & blustery days with precious few hours of light (as a photographer I crave light more than I crave chocolate) it's so lovely to be warmed by a cosy wedding full of love and laughter . Evelyn & Eduardo brought the Melbourne sunshine and warmed us all up on this really special day.
Enjoy :)
Who proposed?
Evelyn:
Eduardo proposed while we were out mountain biking near our home in Melbourne, Australia. He sped ahead of me on his bike and pretended to fall off. As I approached he was down on one knee and proposed with the ring off a keyring. It was actually spur of the moment for him. He had planned on doing it on a weekend away a few weeks later but once he had asked my Dad (on FaceTime) that week he said he couldn't wait!

What made you choose your venue?
Evelyn:
Seeing as we were travelling from Australia and the fact that we had family coming from abroad we wanted something in Dublin so people didn't have to travel any further. Two of my friends viewed a few different venues for us and they thought the Radisson was perfect for us.
We wanted somewhere with character, somewhere we could have the ceremony, meal and partying in one location and somewhere that we didn't need to do too much decoration too. On top of all that, the location meant I could get ready and leave from the family home which was something I really wanted to do.
THE FIRST LOOK
What was your favorite moment from the day?
When we chatted about this, we both agreed that the best bit was the ceremony. It was so special and very personal. It worked out even better than we could have hoped.
Also, the first look. We hadn't heard of this before and we were initially skeptical. However, it was so special that we got to meet before the ceremony. We loved the fact that we were one of the first to see each other and that we had that private moment before meeting all of our guests.

How would you sum up the experience of having Blackbird Boulevard photograph your wedding?
Amazing, even better than we could have wished for. Janet was the photographer at my brother's wedding 7 months earlier and at that point we actually had someone else booked. However, that person wasn't very easy to work with and so when I met Janet I knew that she would be perfect for us.
From the moment we booked her, Janet was brilliant in terms of helping us plan our day. Eduardo actually only met her on the day of our wedding and he couldn't believe how easy going she was and how relaxed she made us feel on the day. We were even happier when we saw the photos a few weeks later!
What would your words of wisdom be to any engaged couples out there planning their wedding?
Prioritize what is important to you. Some people would rather spend their money on food, others entertainment or even the dress. By chatting together and deciding what is most important to you both, it makes it easier to decide where to spend your money and where you can cut back. Also, just remember to make sure you are happy with everything and that the day is going to reflect you both as a couple. You don't have to have or do anything just because people say you do!
